Briar Wood
Briar Wood (Ngāpuhi nui tonu) grew up in South Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand. She lived and worked as a lecturer in Britain, where she published poetry, fiction and essays, with frequent returns to New Zealand. Welcome Beltane (2012), her first full-length poetry collection, was awarded the Holyer An Gof prize for poetry in Cornwall. Her second collection, Rāwāhi (Anahera Press, 2017) was shortlisted in the Ockham NZ Book Awards 2018. The most recent collection, A Book of Rongo and Te Rangahau was published by Anahera Press in 2022. Her poetry has been extensively published and anthologised.
